1. Boundary Update
- Presentation from Floyd Strensrud, Director of Planning and Enrollment
- Shared information regarding boundary study with the purpose of understanding of how to best balance populations in Midvalley area. Discussed Copperview, East Midvale, Midvale, and Midvalley. Goal is to maintain the integrity of the programs at each school
- Focus on maintaining the community structure and connectedness to the school
- Midvale city is growing the in the Jordan Bluffs area. Expecting a 100-125 elementary students coming out of that area
- Nov, 10th boundary study proposal brought to the board of education
- Nov 19, website launched with survey tool for public input
- Midvalley’s capacity is 750 students
- School’s capacity can be found in the planning and enrollment page at canyonsdistrict.org
- Discussion on bussing with option 3 needing a bus to go across 80th south
- Open House Boundary Discussion at Midvalley on Jan. 20th at 6:00 pm in gym

3. Parking Lot – Revisit
- Signage around sidewalk is done
- Kinder parking lot signs are up- times for kindergarten pm pick up 12:00-12:30 with multiple signs or 10min parking
- Faculty Only parking sign has been removed
- Admin/Teachers continue to support families in following our parking lot guidelines
- It was discussed to have red parking paint on east side curb to mitigate traffic congestion

Under the safety manual—it states:
Physical distancing and cohorting
Schools should implement physical distancing as much as possible to protect children who are too young to be vaccinated. This means to stay at least 6 feet away from other people who are not vaccinated as much as possible. However, studies showed physical distancing of 3 feet in a classroom can be effective when other prevention measures are taken, including mask wearing.
Cohorting (or forming “pods”) can also help reduce the chance of being exposed to COVID-19, especially when it’s hard to maintain physical distance in the classroom. Cohorting keeps groups of students, and sometimes teachers or employees, together throughout the school day. Schools are responsible for making sure cohorting is done in an equitable manner.
3 assembly options were discussed:
- Continue as is being mindful of rotating grades
- Virtual only
- No assemblies
Committee came to the conclusion that in the school, in person is not optimal with COVID and district policy. Recommended that the school try as much as possible to have multiple assemblies with upper and lower grades evenly rotated throughout the year and live stream the rest.
