Digital Citizenship Week in CSD
October 17-19, 2022, Canyons School District will be participating in our annual Digital Citizenship Week. Included below is an overview of the activities we will be sharing and discussing in our school so that you may extend these conversations with your children at home. From cyberbullying and photo sharing to digital footprints and online safety, we want to help
students and families address important topics and have meaningful conversations about making great choices in their digital lives.

  • “Share with Care”
    • Students will learn how their digital footprint is made up of what they post online, and how to determine what types of information should be kept private.
  • “That’s Not What I Meant!”
    • Students will learn how the meaning of words and pictures can change depending on who is viewing them and where they’re shared.
  • “How Do Others See Us Online?”
    • Students will explore how their digital footprints may tell people more–or just different–stuff about them than they wanted others to know.
  • “Seeing Upsetting Stuff”
    • Students will learn how to respond when someone shows you something that makes you uncomfortable, as well as how to report the situation to a trusted adult.
  • “Handling Mean Behavior Online”
    • Students will learn how to pause and calm down before responding to mean behavior online so as not to escalate the situation.
  • “It’s Cool to be Kind”
    • Students will learn how to respond to mean behavior online to share kindness, block bullies, and report troublemakers.
  • “Noticing Feelings”
    • Students will learn how to empathize with people and identify what others may be feeling during online interactions.
  • “Ways to Show Kindness”
    • Students will practice showing kindness online to make the online world a kinder, more welcoming place.
  • “From Negative to Nice”
    • Students will practice responding to negativity online with positivity for more fun and interesting interactions online.
  • “But That Wasn’t Me!”
    • Students will explore the consequences of sharing their passwords with others and how doing so might negatively impact their digital footprints.
  • “How to Build a Great Password”
    • Students will practice developing strong, memorable passwords.
