Yesterday was our Safety Patrol Pledge Ceremony. Twenty eight fifth grade students from all three classes were selected to support safety before and after school. Safety Patrols have been around since the 1920’s and still serve in many elementary schools across the country. Students who serve on safety patrol must commit to living a life of integrity, honor, and example. Officer Jonkman from the Unified Police Department officiated. Mrs. Rogers is our faculty advisor for Safety Patrol. Congratulations to our new Safety Patrol!
This week our school focus for Second Steps is SAFETY. Safe actions keep everyone’s bodies from being hurt. When we act in safe ways, we keep our hands to ourselves and don’t use them to touch others in a hurtful way. When we use safe words, we make sure nobody’s feelings are hurt. Safe words are kind and respectful. This week, we’ve asked the students to think about how we can act and speak in safe ways in the classroom, hallway, and lunchroom and out at recess.
