Midvalley Elementary Rebuild...When?

Posted in News & Announcements

Many patrons have been asking about the rebuild schedule for our school. The rebuild is being funded by the Bond that was passed in November. The following is from the last Board of Education meeting.  If the Board of Education approves this proposal, we will have many patron and staff input meetings in the fall. It is anticipated, if approved, groundbreaking would be in May or June of 2019 (next spring). The school would be completed for the 2020-21 school year. Questions or comments can be directed to the District and Board of Education by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. Elementary School Rebuild

The Administration recommends that Midvalley Elementary be selected as the first elementary school completed with funds from the $283 million bond approved by voters in November. The 60-year-old school is the oldest of the buildings that are on the list for reconstruction with funds from the 2017 bond. The school also lacks ADA-compliant restrooms, is not built to seismic standards, has a high Facility Cost Index, and the campus is large enough to simultaneously accommodate construction and school operations in the old building. A new building in Midvale also could help absorb any growth in west Midvale. The District’s bond-construction timetable includes starting work on an elementary school in 2019. The other three elementary schools that will eventually be rebuilt with 2017 bond money are Peruvian Park, a White City-area school, and a new school in west Draper. The Board took the recommendation under advisement.

Celebrating a Great School Year-Thank You!

Posted in News & Announcements

We are celebrating the end of a great school year. Thank you to our parents and community for your support. We love our Junior Huskies. It is always a joy to see the growth of our students. They have developed stronger social skills and academic learning. We have had a lot of fun together and worked hard. Hopefully, we have struck a positive balance as a school community.

As summer approaches, there are some things students might want to continue to do to build their academic futures. One of the easiest is to read! We are fortunate to have excellent public libraries and resources close at hand. It is easy to apply for a library card. We find that when students find an author that they love, they have whole series of books to read. The librarians at the Salt Lake County Libraries love to help students find just the right book for them. The Tyler Library on the westside of State Street is close enough for most to walk.

Summer is also a great time to get out and play. Limiting time on devices and watching television is good for our health. Our Playworks Coach says, "Get outside and play!"

We wish you a very happy summer. Report cards will come home on Wednesday this week (June 6, 2018). The last day is Thursday, June 7. School will be released at 12:30 pm.

The first day of school next year is Wednesday, August 22. School will start at 8:25 am. Your family is invited to a Meet and Treat on August 21, 3:00-4:00 pm to meet your teacher and have a cool treat. We will see you then!
