Parents and guardians, please join us for a Parent Back to School Night on Thursday, August 31, 7:00-8:00 pm.
Please go directly to your child's classroom upon arrival. We will have a school-wide meeting at 7:00 pm over the intercom for the first few minutes.
Then, teachers will present for 20 minutes about what your child will learn this year. Next, we will change classrooms, for parents with more than one child, and the teachers will repeat their presentation for their classroom for the second session. If you only have one student at our school, you are welcome to leave.
The evening will end at 8:00 pm. Come hear about the great things happening at Midvalley Elementary!
Greetings to our Junior Husky Community! Thank you to everyone who has made the beginning of our year a big success. Our faculty, staff, parents, and students are happy to be back in school. All students were greeted on the red carpet the first day by fifth grade leaders, REAL Soccer players, visiting District Administrators, the Principal and staff. It was a "high five" day!
Coming up this week, our kindergarten friends will start on Monday, August 28. This will be our first year to provide Supplemental Full-Day Kindergarten. We also offer three half-day sessions. We can't wait to see them!
A reminder for ALL PARENTS: We will be holding our Back to School Night, this coming Thursday, August 31, from 7:00-8:00 pm. Please go to your child's class at 7:00 pm. We will be holding our general meeting in the classrooms this year. Teachers will present what your child will be learning this year from 7:10-7:30. There will be a five minute break. If you have more than one child, you can visit the other classroom from 7:35-8:00 pm to receive the information for the additional classroom. We will end promptly at 8:00 pm, so our custodians can get the school ready for Friday. This is a night to learn what your student(s) will be studying this year in school, and how you can help them. We are a no homework school, so how can you help them every night? Read, read, read!
We have a wonderful, supportive community. As always, please feel free to call us at the school, if you need any assistance. Spanish translators are available.
Cheers to a great new year of learning!
It is with great pleasure that I will begin my first school year at Midvalley, but not my first year as an educational leader. For the last 8 ½ years, I have served as senior staff in the Canyons District Office, supervising elementary and middle schools and working to build student support services. Before my work in the District Office, I was a Principal for three schools in Jordan School District, as well as an elementary and middle school teacher. I look forward to working together to provide the best learning environment and education for your child, and I am very happy to be in an elementary school, which is my first love in education.
This summer, our staff has been busy getting ready for a new year. During online registration, you will receive a family handbook. In it, you will receive the information you need to help your child be successful. Please take the time to read the information thoroughly. You will also see your child's classroom assignment. Your teachers can't wait to meet your child and your family.
Please come for a Meet, Greet, and Treat at Midvalley! We will open our school on Tuesday, Aug. 22, from 3-4 p.m. for an opportunity for our families and students to meet their teachers for the coming year. We will have a cool treat outside in front of the building. Please join me after you have a chance to meet your teacher. I look forward to meeting you all. The first day of school for first-through-fifth graders is Aug. 23. Kindergarteners will have assessments that week and begin classwork on Monday, Aug. 28. Our Parent Back-to-School Night is scheduled for Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. We will have a very brief general meeting and then we will offer two, 20-minute sessions for you to meet with the teachers and learn about their expectations for the year.
Finally, I ask for you to spend time familiarizing yourself with the school website http://midvalley.canyonsdistrict.org/ and the information you can find there. Our website will be a place for what is happening at the school, so join our community and check back often!
With Warmest Regards,
Tamra S. Baker, Principal
