Agenda Items

  • Organize school council
    • Elect chair and vice chair
      • Chair – Candice Marsh
      • Vice – Kemi Sutton
    • Review rules of order and procedure and post on website
    • Set meeting schedule for the year and post on website
      • Tuesdays at 3:30 – Margaret will send out email to finalize what Tuesdays work best for everyone
    • Post roster on website with, at least, one form of contact for each member
      • Roster is correct
    • Review requirements for SCC open meeting requirements
    • Review bylaws or write bylaws if you don’t currently have; post current copy on website
 
  • Review school data that may have come in at end-of-year or over summer, previous year’s plans and current year’s plans
    • We’ve started acadience testing but don’t have all the data yet
    •  For our plans–aides’ salary was higher than expected so we hired one less position than planned
 
  • August safety drill report and budgets
    • August Drill – Fire – went well
    • Cell Tower
    • Land Trust
    • TSSP
    • In October–we will have our 2023 budgets
 
  • Parking Lot –   
    • Mike shared concerns with district – can we make corrections to make it better?  Why was it done the way it was?  Our school has less spots than other schools.  
    • We need to educate our parents on how to use the parking lot and follow the flow 
    • We have the overflow parking lot – not sure what it is for
      • Follow up – it is for school events during the day, field trip parking, evening events, and for patrons who rent the fields after school school.
    • Discussion on current practices of drop off amongst SCC members
      • Ask a police officer to help families not block each other
      • Morning is better b/c it’s staggered
      • Make it so families go all around in the afternoon to fit in more cars
    • SCC will continue to discuss best options and put in our Safe Routes Plan
 
  • Inside/Outside Recess Protocol
    • 23 degrees or below (including come inside)
    • Air Quality – Red – everyone inside, Orange and Yellow – follow directions from parents/guardians
    • Heat?
    • When it is 95 degrees or higher –
      • School encourages students to wear hats and sunscreen
      • Families who reach out to the school can have their students stay inside
      • Why don’t we have sun shades?  Admin will find out.
